托盘式货架又称横梁式货架、选择式货架、层式货架、高层式货架，双向选择货架。
按承重可以分为：轻型货架、中型货架、重型货架；按结构分为横梁与立柱组装而成的货架，每层承重800KG以上即为重型货架，用横梁与立柱组装成的重型货架即为横梁式重型货架。
横梁式重型货架一般由2片立柱片和横梁组成，每层一般由2根横梁，中间可以加装内支撑、层板。配合叉车使用，可以直接放托盘上去，也可以在层板上放散货。
横梁式重型货架具有：组装容易、拆卸方便，成本低，安全，可单独使用也可以拼接使用。
横梁式重型的立柱片由两根立柱、横支、斜支使用镀锌螺丝、螺帽固定而成。可以有效防止螺帽松动引起的货架失稳。
