按照膨化方法，可分为干法和湿法。干法用电，湿法需要通蒸汽，需要烧锅炉。
湿法起到预先熟化的作用，膨化出的狗粮较好。可做低中狗粮，干法适合中低端狗粮。大型湿法狗粮设备还有率，降低成本的优点。因此大型膨化机，要选用湿法比较好。
