磁混凝工艺主要是利用絮体与磁粉微粒的结合，使絮体密度得到提高，对于相对密度为2，65g/cm3的磁粉絮体1，磁混凝工艺能有效解决分散供水现状，满足生活用水要求，磁混凝工艺的主要技术**性如下：该工艺总停留时间在30min以内，占地面积为常规混凝沉淀池的60%左右，将磁混凝/磁性树脂吸附耦合工艺用于**供水中，进行常规混凝沉淀工艺难以去除的**污染物和重金属离子的处理，该工艺可减少消毒环节DBPs产生，提高饮用水水质。

磁混凝工艺与常规混凝沉淀工艺相比可节省土地面积50%以上，对老水厂改造或新建水厂的空间使用将十分有利，磁混凝工艺对低温低浊和高浊水的处理均十分*，抗冲击负荷能力强，将磁混凝与UF膜过程相结合，将使水处理工艺流程较为稳定*，水厂处理单元将较为紧凑，05g/cm3的常规絮体，前者的沉淀速率约为后者的5-10倍，从而可以显著减少絮凝反应沉淀池的占地面积，采用磁混凝池单位占地面积仅为80-120m2/万m3。

磁混凝工艺被广泛的用于市政污水提标改造，对COD、BOD、氨氮、总氮、色度有提标需求的工程，黑臭河道整治、工业废水深度除磷、除浊等领域，将混凝、絮凝反应池与沉淀池合建，且由于沉淀过程中无上向流扰动，沉淀停留时间可进一步缩短至5-10min，因此，设备占地面积可做到连续流磁混凝池的50%左右，常规混凝沉淀池的20%左右，结构紧凑性进一步得到强化，新建项目或改扩建项目的一次性投资成本因此可以大幅降低，而系统运行成本与原工艺相当。
